Mission Statement
The following is the mission statement from a home church where I taught,
ministered and was ministered to. I believe this includes what every Christian
should have in mind as our mission.
|
To draw people into a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus
Christ and bring them into the family of God, as we disciple believers
into maturity through the Word of God so as to equip them to minister
within the Body of Christ and to then, filled with the Holy Spirit,
preach the gospel throughout the world, exalting the name of the
Lord God Almighty, making His house one of prayer, praise and worship.

Our Desires
Worship
We want to worship with all that we are, in spirit and truth, by the Holy
Spirit, and with each other. We desire to know God, hear His voice, and
follow Him intimately. We desire to be imitators of God to
live and love like Him (John 4:24; Ephesians 2:19-22; 5:1-2, Philippians
3:3,10; Psalms 63:1-30, Hebrews 13:15)
The Word
We want to hear the Word of God preached and taught in a practical, truthful,
uncompromised way. We desire to be doers of the word and not just hearers
only, and to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ ourselves
and, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to live a life of holiness
before God. Regarding the Word of God, we want to not only to study it
academically, and to ponder it philosophically, but to live it faithfully.
(Ephesians 4:11-12; 2 Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 12:14; James 1:22; 1 Peter
1:16, 2 Peter 3:11)
Fellowship
We desire to support and encourage all that God sends into our lives,
and work together in His love and unity to advance the Kingdom of God
here in our area and throughout the world as He leads us. We want to be
a people devoted to true fellowship, devoted to and loving each other
with the Father's heart, considering one another before ourselves. After
all, it is by our love for one another that the world will know that we
are His. (John 13:35; 17:20-23; Romans 12:9-10; Hebrews 10:24; 13:1-3;
1 Corinthians 13 1-7)
Ministry: We believe in the priesthood of believers, and that
all believers are ministers and are called to minister in
the power of the Holy Spirit to do the ministry of Jesus. We are called
to make disciples and equip them for service. We are committed to on
the job training. We also aim to provide equipping in all aspects
of our walk with Jesus. (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15; Luke 11:1-4; Acts
1:8; 26:18; 1 Corinthians 12:4-7; Ephesians 4:11-16; 2 Timothy 2:2; 1
Peter 2:9; 4:10-11; James 1:27 )
Evangelism: We aim to send teams to minister here and into
all the world to preach the Gospel, start churches, and further
the Kingdom of God. We believe that grace is fundamental to all that God
does in salvation, and that it is His very heart beat. Therefore, we aim
to proclaim His grace to all we know and minister to. We desire to be
witnesses with our lives, by speaking the truth, dealing in truth, and
living in truth. For with a life of integrity God is pleased. (1 Chronicles
29:17; Proverbs 11:3; Matthew 10:5-10, Luke 9:1-6; Romans 15:20; Revelation
5:9-10)
Prayer: We desire to be a House of Prayer, one in
which prayer is considered a vital part of everything we do corporately
and individually. We want to develop groups of people who consistenly
have prayer, praise and supplication going up before the throne of God.
We want to walk everyday in this natural world with Gods heart and
mind (1 Corinthians 2:16; Ephesians 6:18; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; James
1:5)
